Baillie Island Post during a storm, 1929. (R. C. Diocese Archives/ L. T. Burwash) |
Utqaluk Today We had just reached Utrkaluk, Baillie Island when a violent western gale pushed old, thick, ice fields to shore. ("I, Nuligak" p. 158)
Today there is nothing left of Baillie Island Post. Utqaluk is exposed to storms blowing off the Arctic Ocean, and waves and high water have washed the sand spit clean. |
