The Winter of 1920, spent in the Capacity of book keeper for the Hudson's Bay Company, at Fort Chipewyan, was not yet over when I received instructions to leave for Gravel Point, the shipyard of the Company, with some Carpenters who were going there to put new top works on my old ship – the McKenzie River.
