"Half"

NuligakAll had returned to Abvak for the summer. ("I, Nuligak" p. 57)

Avvaq is located at the tip of Cape Bathurst. A narrow strait separates Avvaq from Baillie Island.

Elder Edgar Kotokak explains how Avvaq was named:
In winter the ice between Avvaq and Baillie Island often opens up, and it looks as of Avvaq and Baillie Island have broken in half.
