Why are some pingos important?

The land near the mouth of the Mackenzie River is low lying. Some pingos, like Ibyuk, are important to Inuvialuit because they are good landmarks to use when travelling.

Big pingos make great lookouts .

Ibyuk and Split Pingo are part of Tuktoyaktuk's community emblem .
