Explore Imaryuk I asked them if they had taken fish at Imariuk. ("I, Nuligak" p. 169) Imaryuk is a large inlet of the Arctic Ocean that consists of several bodies of water separated from one another by narrow openings. It has been an important hunting, fishing and food gathering area for Inuvialuit for hundreds of years. Most maps today show the name "Eskimo Lakes" instead of Imaryuk. Locally, it is often called Husky Lakes. "Husky" is an abbreviation of "Eskimo". |
