and flesh it – that is – remove all flesh and fat. This is done by jabbing it with an implement made from a sharpened moose shin bone. Having been thoroughly fleshed – it is then smoked and finally worked by hand until soft and pliable.

They are so proficient at this, that I have seen skins finished either pure white or saffron in colour.
