shack for half-an-hour or so. Everyone in the Post turned out to see it and remained watching till it vanished.

Eventually Summer came. My outfit - the Lawson Hubbard Company - had sold out to the Hudsons Bay Company and I was out of a job, so I decided to go “outside” for a trip – Edmonton and its bright lights looked awfully good to me. But – on arrival at Fort Smith – I met my old partner Hornby, at that time down on his luck – so used my stake to buy a trapping outfit, dogs etc, & he and I went trapping.

It was a year before I saw Edmonton.
