On the River Page 36

Having crossed the Portage to Fort Fitzgerald, we found that we were too late to catch the last steamer to Fort McMurray, where we would get a train for Edmonton, so we had to do the 200 miles in a small and most uncomfortable gas boat. The nights were cold and, as a matter of fact, so were the days, but we had to put up with whatever came our way – so just tried to make the best of it.

Our first sight of Fort McMurray showed us Hudsons Bay Company Warehouses along the bank of the River.
