feathers came off with the mud. An excellent method for duck was to run a stick from one wing across to the other, holding the wings spread out. Another stick through the bird from neck to tail when stuck in the ground acted as a spit and the duck could be turned when it was necessary.
Rabbits were plentiful and could easily be shot when needed, in fact, they
