On my return to Fort Smith-I saw Hornby, who was just leaving for Edmonton. With the exception of once more—at the East End of Great Slave Lake—this was the last time I saw him and years later, when I was out in Civilisation [civilization], I read the account of his tragic death, with which I will end this chapter.
