Fort McPherson was, until 1924, the most Northerly point reached by boats following the Slave and McKenzie Rivers, from Fort Smith. It is in the North West Territories, whilst Dawson, as everyone who has heard of the Klondike Gold rush, knows, is in the Yukon.
