thought it was a big bird and shot at it, whilst many ran away and hid in the bush. But it is different now – aeroplanes are quite common, although there are still many Indians who have seen neither a car nor a horse, nor ever a cow.

Beautiful fancy work is made here, silk work on buckskin or moose skin. Gloves, coats, Moccassins (shoes) or even “Tapees” – coats for dogs when in harness.

Porcupine Quills – horse hair (where procurable) and beads, dyed in many colours, are used for decorating besides silk and wool, and, whilst wool is naturally coarse, the silk is very fine – called “small” by the Indians.
