The walls inside were shelved and the shelves were stocked with all kinds of Groceries – Hardware – Dry Goods – Rifles & Ammunition etc. My staff consisted of Maggie – my cook – Basil, my general handy man and Ka-fivie (rabbits head) my interpreter whose English was far harder to understand then his Indian.

My Indian designation was Dichin Calais Begowry cho, which means “Board house big boss”.

Trading took place whenever Indians arrived.
