The line when detached from the jigger, is attached to one end of the net which it then drawn under the ice. Floats and sinkers hold it in the correct position.
An axe can be used for chopping these holes, but an ice pick is preferable.
Whitefish, Dorys, Jackfish (Pike) Suckers, Tulabee and Trout are all caught with a net and make excellent dog feed.
