The Kraus Family

Those who thrive in the Nahanni are those who live close to the land. Mary and Gus Kraus were long-time residents of the Nahanni near Kraus Hot Springs. They moved to Little Doctor Lake on the outskirts of the park reserve after the designation was made. Their cabin stands there to this day. They opened their homes to prospectors, tourists and statesmen alike including Pierre Trudeau on his river trip in 1970.
