Transformation - How Archaeological Sites Are Formed

Outsiders who visited Qangmaliq Bay in the 1800s reported seeing villages of driftwood and sod dwellings in many places along the shores of the bay.

The dwellings have long since been abandoned. Many have been washed away or destroyed by other forces of nature. Some, perhaps only a few, survive as archaeological sites.
