| The traditional homeland of the Kuukpangmiut was on the western
side of Qangmaliq Bay, where a branch of the Mackenzie River empties
out into the Beaufort Sea. In summer the Kuukpangmiut lived in tents as they traveled from
place to place to hunt and to fish. They spent the winters in villages
of driftwood and sod dwellings built on the shores of Qangmaliq
Bay where they stockpiled meat during their summer beluga whale
              hunts. |
