The Kuukpangmiut About Kuukpak Transformation Discovery Study

About Kuukpak - Home of the Kuukpangmiut

As silt filled in the shallow channels where they hunted beluga whales, the Kuukpangmiut shifted their village a short distance downstream next to another set of offshore islands.

The area they moved to is exposed to the open waters of Qangmaliq Bay. Waves and moving ice are eroding this shoreline, and the remains of dwellings buried in the ground there are washing away.
